As Keith Olberman pointed out tonight, Clinton granted pardons for a variety of people and most, if not all (Marc Rich was a fugitive as I recall), served time.<BR/>It's hard to tell with the Libby commutation which appears to squash his probation whether Dubya did it deliberately and is now feigning ignorance on this matter (my view) or whether it was once again sheer incompetence. The joke that Libby committed no crime is as big a lie as the Saddam/9-11 connection; as Fitzgerald said: Libby (and crew) obstructed the search for the initial leaker by their lies so he could not get to the bottom of the case - which was a crime; in fact, Tenet's CIA wanted the matter investigated!!!!<BR/>Now we find out that Bush (and we know this is Cheney's doing, Bush is too stupid) played the commutation card this time because it protects Libby in a way. But, then again, should we really be surprised about anything this administration does? It does not care about this country; only how they -- that inner circle of Bush, Cheney, their oil and Haliburton buddies, etc. -- can benefit. They took this country to war so they could get rich. If they were truly interested in catching Osana bin laden, the actual mastermind behind 9/11, why didn't they continue the pursuit into Afghanistan, where they knew he was? Why did they direct all of their attention/funds/military resources to Iraq? What did Iraq have to do with 9/11? But I digress (like the administration) ... Scooter should be in jail, along with the rest of these GOP criminals. Heck, the sentence was handed down by Bush's own appointed judge!
